Rachel Ericksen (Rachel Bissex) Emma's mom: struggling to keep it together as a mom, housewife, singer/songwriter. Chronically depressed.

Lara (Siri Baruc) Emma's best friend: impulsive, sparkly. The other kids think she's a weirdo. Dreams of escaping to New York to be a dancer.

Lenny Ericksen (Doran Hamm) Emma's kid brother: a state house page, Emma's ally at home when they're not teasing each other, helps keep their mother from completely losing it.

Red Morisette (Rusty Dewees) a right wing state senator, Jess Ericksen's political foil at the state house. Thinks gays are taking over the state, doesn't like gun control. Fools you with his long red hair.
